Crossings is an online film festival that showcases the state of the art of the Indian documentary film through a series of significant journeys made by filmmakers using diverse and innovative forms of communication.
The films traverse a range of topics including the politics of insurgency; the violence of state repression; the refashioning of caste and gender inequalities; migrant dislocations; religious majoritarianism; censorship, propaganda, and creative resistance.
Programming and curation: Lalit Vachani
The Crossings film festival culminates with a workshop called Visual Diaries showcasing video and photographic documentation of the 2019 national elections in India, and two online panel discussions with a focus on teaching practices, and the state of the art of the Indian documentary.
